Loomis Elementary School - Broomall, PA

Loomis Elementary School is one of four elementary schools in the Marple Newtown School District. Loomis serves a culturally diverse population of approximately 375 students with over ten different spoken languages, enrichment programs, and specialized programs for students with disabilities. Loomis teachers welcome the motto, "All students can learn" and coordinate efforts in the building to make learning purposeful and meaningful.

For the past several years, on-going professional development focused on curriculum, instruction, and assessment progressed into a transformative school culture that has improved student achievement at Loomis. Students at Loomis have demonstrated high achievement on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA), which fall well above the state averages in language arts, mathematics, and science. A significant pillar in the success of the students at Loomis Elementary is the teachers' abilities to explicate data and relate it to instructional techniques that require participation from all students. The improvement effort at Loomis Elementary is a collaborative approach to enhancing instruction through the use of research, data, and total participation techniques to create high expectations for students. More importantly, our work has assured that students get what they need, yielding superior results, which illustrates our motto that all students can learn at Loomis Elementary School.
