Freeport Area Senior High School - Sarver, PA

The Freeport Area High School is a high achieving high school located in Sarver, PA, north of Pittsburgh, and serves students from Armstrong and Butler Counties. The high school has approximately 600 students in grades 9-12. Students at Freeport are supported by a caring and dedicated staff as well as a supportive community. The high school has numerous dual enrollment courses with the University of Pittsburgh, Seton Hill University, and Westmoreland County Community College; 7 Advanced Placement courses; and a robust technical, science, mathematics, and computer science curriculum.

Freeport Area High School utilizes a Career Pathways program that ensures every student personalizes his/her career and educational plan beyond high school. Included in this program are shadowing experiences, pre-apprenticeships, industry credentials, service learning opportunities, and many business and industry partnerships.

The high school developed a Social-Emotional Learning and Mental Health Framework that uses a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. Tier 1 offers universal support for all students. Tier 1 is focused on SEL competencies and lessons, collaborative teacher teams, and school-wide interventions. Tier 2 offers targeted support to provide short-term interventions and small-group counseling. Tier 3 offers intensive supports, which include a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Students at Freeport Area High School are very active in extracurricular activities, music, and fine arts. There are 390 students involved in athletics, 225 students participating in the music program, and all students are involved in at least one club. Students participated in over 4800 hours of community service this past year.
