3rd Graders Learning About Rocks with the Principal

What makes Evanston Academy a great place to learn and achieve is the philosophy and belief that "every student in every seat will make academic gains." With this focus in mind, the entire staff at Evanston is committed to meeting the needs of all students through our school-wide initiatives in both Reading and Mathematics.

Our Reading Mini Lab and Math lab are composed of small homogeneous student groupings led by a staff member or trained volunteer to provide extra support, interventions, and enrichment for students of varying instructional levels. These school-wide interventions are interactive and allow for meaningful student dialogue, through the use of hands-on activities, games and problem-solving tasks. This format of highly engaging and rigorous instruction has proven to be the catalyst for academic achievement based on the Ohio State Report Card.

Another practice that has been instrumental to academic success is the weekly grade level data meetings. Here, teacher teams meet, dissect data, discuss, and develop individualized strategic plans that directly support the overall objective of academic achievement for all students.

Not only do students learn and achieve, but fellow educators from the district learn from the data-proven practices of the staff of Evanston Academy. Teachers and principals have come, observed, and implemented these strategies into their respective schools. Evanston Academy is a place where every staff member feels appreciated and accomplished; and every student feels loved, valued, and supported. This positive, nurturing culture is why Evanston Academy is a great place to learn, grow, and achieve.
