County Prep High School is a dynamic urban school that reaches beyond the building walls to connect with our diverse student body, their families, and the county-wide community. Students are encouraged to pursue their interests beyond the classroom via internships and community college LEAP classes. Strong student-driven clubs and activities, including a vibrant Student Council, defines the spirit of our school. As a Vocational-Technical institution, we celebrate each year the accomplishments of our students in statewide, countywide, and local competitions such as Skills USA, HOSA, and NJ Teen Arts. Our Performing Arts program collaborates with local artists and performers to facilitate lessons and performances with the students.
Our guidance department hosts an annual post-secondary employment and college fair during which students meet representatives of the military, law enforcement, community colleges, state colleges, and universities. The networking at such an event leads to student empowerment and employment opportunities in Hudson County and across the NJ/NY metro area. During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have successfully supported students with devices 1:1 and allowed our instructors to effectively educate them. Whether in-person, virtual, or hybrid our educators have pivoted to rise to the challenges of teaching both their subject matter and resilience.
