It is our shared belief at School No. 5 that all children are gifted; they each possess special qualities and talents that make them unique. These gifts are celebrated in every aspect of the educational experience. The cornerstone of School No. 5's overall success has been our collective efficacy to meet our students' social, emotional, and academic needs. It is our overarching goal that our students remain life-long and well-rounded learners.
School No. 5 cultivates and fosters a safe and engaging learning environment, where high expectations are set for all students to obtain their individualized academic excellence. Our philosophy at School No. 5 is "students are loved first, and taught second." Data drives our instruction in order to better remediate and support our students' academic needs. Through differentiated instruction, teachers are able to modify academic programs to accommodate all students' learning styles. Technology helps facilitate opportunities for our students to have personalized learning while enhancing their 21st century skills.
Building strong relationships within our community helps bridge the mission of our school while providing a sense of belonging. Our stakeholders are afforded a multitude of opportunities to participate in our school initiatives, such as our Positive Behavior System In Schools (PBSIS). PBSIS provides students with recognition for their daily and long-term accomplishments. At School No. 5, dignitaries, parents, and staff all come together with one unified goal: having our students succeed.
