Pyrtle Elementary School is located in Lincoln, Nebraska and is part of Lincoln Public Schools, which serves over 42,000 students. Pyrtle is one of 39 elementary schools, and we currently have about 450 Pyrtle Panthers enrolled. The principal attributes the great success of Pyrtle to dedicated staff, supportive families, and outstanding students.
Pytle's staff go above and beyond on a daily basis to meet the needs of all students. They have worked collaboratively to implement Tier 1 instruction with fidelity and on a rigorous pace. Meeting the needs of all learners is a possibility due to a solid intervention program and staff taking responsibility for all students. Staff development has centered around a positive culture, clear learning targets, opportunities for students to respond, giving meaningful feedback, and checking for understanding.
Students at Pyrtle come to school ready to learn and treat others with respect. Our themes the past 2 years have been built on kindness and acceptance of all. The students grow socially and emotionally every day with the support of our staff and the social emotional curricula that we use. Our students are always willing to lend a helping hand.
Pyrtle's parents are supportive and partner with the school to help our students be their best. We welcome parent volunteers, and are grateful for everything they do to help our students grow. Our Parent Teacher Organization is active and provide our students and staff with many extra opportunities and items that we need to enhance our learning environment.
