Standing Bear Elementary is part of the Omaha Public School District in Omaha, Nebraska. It serves a population of approximately 560 students in grades PK-4th. What makes Standing Bear successful is the cooperative partnerships between our families, teachers, parents, and community members. All stakeholders have a high interest in our school, our students, and their overall success. Families support our school, and we were ranked Omaha's Best K- 8 public elementary school for three consecutive years (2017, 2018, 2019) through the Omaha's Choice Awards.

Standing Bear has maintained a strong academic foundation and continues to strive for academic and social/emotional improvement for every child. Using data to drive instruction and focusing on each individual student's growth allows us to meet the needs of all our students. Standing Bear staff is focused, determined and driven. Teachers know and understand best instructional practices and provide high level instruction each day. The teachers always go above and beyond the expectations. Professional development is specific and focused on what teachers need, and staff are utilized as instructional leaders. Regularly scheduled grade level meetings allow for collaboration among staff, data digs to support specific content areas or student needs, and conversations around curriculum allow our teachers to adjust and improve daily instruction. Additional programs that Standing Bear offers to support student needs, include our EL (English Language) support class, GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) class, and Special Education classes. We hold the belief that we don't just teach the curriculum, we teach the individual child. Standing Bear Elementary is a great place to grow!
