David City Elementary School teachers provide students with exceptional learning opportunities every day of the school year. Our students and their families have taken advantage of these opportunities to grow and become stronger academically, to become more socially responsible, and to become better citizens.
David City Elementary continues to see an increase in students that live in poverty, are highly mobile, and need special education services. Teachers have identified these challenges and put measures in place to maximize our student's learning. A key component of overcoming these challenges has been the teachers' investment in what is taught during the school day. Over the last five years, David City teachers have devoted a significant amount of time to building effective and efficient curriculums that meet the academic and social needs of our students. While building these curriculums, teachers identified critical concepts (academic and social) that need to be mastered at each grade level. They have also created assessments to measure student performance and documents to track individual growth. These tools have allowed David City Elementary to better communicate with families and build partnerships focused on the individual student's needed growth.
Our teachers' efforts to build learning plans that maximize our students' learning will be the key to our success as we recover from the COVID 19 pandemic. We expect that our students will return to us at several different learning levels. However, we firmly believe the time we have dedicated to building an effective curriculum will have our students demonstrating mastery of learning.
