New Buffalo Elementary is a rural, pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, Title I school with approximately 275 students in attendance. Our school is located adjacent to Lake Michigan and the Indiana border in New Buffalo, Michigan. We pride ourselves on academic growth as well as meeting the individual needs of each and every student. Through our unique academic programming, students are able to fluently read in the lower grades. This allows the upper grades to emphasize reading and writing comprehension skills. Through the use of data and collaboration among the classroom teachers, specials teachers and support staff we are able to provide daily reading and math enrichment or intervention lessons. New Buffalo Elementary School is a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school that sets high behavioral expectations for all students. Data is frequently used to make informed decisions. Each and every day, staff members aid children to reach their personal best. Professional development opportunities occur frequently throughout the school year for all staff members to ensure best practices are up to date. Throughout the week, collaboration among staff members is strong where teachers lead learning sessions as we continue to strive to be the best for our students. Spanish, music, physical education, art, library, technology, and guidance classes are offered each week to educate the whole child. Our support staff members play a vital role in providing additional support to all learners. As a strong, collaborative team, New Buffalo Elementary comes together to deliver quality instruction to every student, every day.
