Outdoor Science learning: Butterfly release in our 1st Grade classroom.

Central Elementary is a unique and special school community. We have a wide range of students we support and qualify as a Title 1 school. Many of our students and families are within walking distance as our building is a neighborhood school located at the center of downtown Grandville. Central elementary was a Focus school some years back due to our student learning data not showing enough growth. With the support of our tremendous staff and families we have turned that around to become one of the highest achieving schools in the Grandville Public Schools system. We have done this with strong structured data analysis connected to a Multi-Tiered Support System (MTSS) as well as a commitment to a connection with our school community. Our kids and families are connected throughout the year with our Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) structure. Our data analysis is a vital part of our success with a total of 5 benchmark meetings (7 days total) throughout the school year. We identify classroom and student supports as well as progress monitor throughout the year to be sure needs are met. Smart goals are then created based on student data to support each child's needs. The success of Central Elementary has really been the result of strong parent involvement, passionate and caring staff members, along with the hard work of our dedicated staff who have an acute awareness of learning strategies to support our students.
