We believe authentic student engagement creates life long learners.

We believe authentic student engagement creates life long learners.

Grant F. Timmerman Elementary School sits in the heart of the Flint Hills with the perfect combination of small town values and city innovation. This enables us to collaborate with a wide variety of community partnerships to provide our students with authentic and purposeful connections and experiences. These serve as catalysts for many of our project-based learning (PBL) units and real world applications while increasing our rigor and relevance.

Our building's professional development and goals have focused on active student engagement, real world application and PBL units to ensure that students have the skills, knowledge and dispositions necessary to be successful in their post-secondary experiences. It is our belief, which is supported by our school-wide data trends, that when students are intrinsically motivated by authentic, rigorous learning tasks, their test scores will naturally follow suit without the specific focus on test preparation.

Based on our mission to facilitate learning experiences that are fun and relevant, students want to come to school. Some of the unique experiences that Timmerman students have learned through are creative themed days (glow day, sports, animals, Toy Story, Trolls, and 80's day, just to name a few). We also have three building wide PBL opportunities that not only engage our students but also our community and parents.

Timmerman is a special place to work, learn and grow for all members of our school community. Our people are always our number one priority when creating memorable and high quality educational opportunities. We love building futures in Emporia!
