Ireland Elementary School is home to approximately 540 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We are a small community in southern Indiana. The school is known in the region for its great academic success. Ireland Elementary has been designated an Indiana Four-Star School and is among the top performers on ISTEP plus and ILEARN standardized assessments. The school has been rated an "A" school by the State of Indiana for many years and was also designated a National Blue Ribbon School in 2009. Ireland Elementary prides itself on this success, though it is not a full reflection of our excellence.
Ireland Elementary teachers are committed to focusing on the whole child. Academics and social-emotional learning are of equal importance. Small-group instruction, interventions, and differentiated lessons create a learning environment with rigorous expectations to meet the needs of all of our students. Our core curriculum in Math and Language Arts provides the foundation for student success in integrated STEM and project-based learning experiences.
When kids enjoy coming to school, they will learn and succeed. Building connections and relationships with our students is at the forefront of our beliefs. Our character education program, mindfulness lessons, mentor initiatives, and many family fun nights promote a strong sense of community, building rapport among staff, students, and families.
At Ireland Elementary, the staff believes in doing what is best for students. We want our students to know that when you work hard, good things happen!
