Kolling's Student Council Raises Funds for Riley Children's Hospital

Kolling Elementary School has educated children in St. John, Indiana for the past 65 years. As part of a ten school district in the suburbs of Northwest Indiana, Kolling is currently serving over 680 children from kindergarten to fourth grade. Day after day, the staff members of Kolling work diligently to meet the unique needs of each individual child. The foundation of Kolling's success is built on a culture that is positive and meets the social and emotional needs of students and staff in order to assure that all are primed for learning. Actions are taken daily to build strong and determined character traits in adults and children so they feel empowered and supported to handle every challenge and find solutions to each problem. Throughout the year, a building level team implements a fastidious system that allows them to regularly monitor individual student performance. This system allows an all-hands-on-deck approach to provide early interventions once it is determined that the supports in place are not adequately meeting a student's needs. Progressive instructional approaches lead Kolling students to become lifelong learners. Rigorous supports are implemented along a continuum of services as a means to provide opportunities that allow every student, from the most struggling to the most exceptional learners, to achieve their personal best. Kolling maintains strong partnerships with district and community stakeholders, allowing learning opportunities to extend beyond the classroom and to provide an enhanced learning environment in which to learn.
