Harris Elementary School is located in the heart of Greenfield, Indiana and has been an important part of the local community for over 65 years. Harris has a hardworking, dedicated staff who focus on building relationships with students, cultivating a value for lifelong learning, fostering a love of literacy, providing enriching content, and keeping kids, families, and the community actively involved in student learning and outcomes. By far the most important thing that we do for our students, ourselves, and our school culture each week is to come together and participate in the practice of Professional Learning Communities. This intentionally set aside time allows for teachers to examine the effects of their instruction on student learning outcomes and to strategically plan for the needs of students through remediation and enrichment. Our teachers use a variety of supports and strategies to meet student needs in the modern world, including strong literacy and math programs, a full spectrum of intervention support, social and emotional development emphasis, 1:1 technology implementation, and an engaging related arts curriculum. Harris has also benefited from many positive relationships with our community partners and local agencies that help us ensure that our students have access to mentors and resources. Harris achieves great things because we don't work in isolation. We trust each other, support each other, hold each other accountable, and have a shared value that believes strategic action and relationships help us achieve things that could not be achieved alone.
