St. John of the Cross Parish School (SJC) lives its mission, "Rooted in Faith, Growing in Knowledge." Many different prayer opportunities become significant in evangelizing this generation of students. From weekly liturgies to various prayer services, we impress upon our students the Catholic faith and character building as we joyfully celebrate our Catholic identity. Our families overwhelmingly support our efforts. Within our outreach programs and through many service projects, our goal is to also show our students the socioeconomic diversity through community programs, such as BEDS Plus, Feed My Starving Children, and Port Sandwich Making. Our faith and spiritual formation prepare our students to be positive, thoughtful and involved members of our parish and the larger community.

SJC academic programs prepare our students to excel at local public as well as prestigious Catholic high schools throughout the Chicagoland area. Student leadership transforms itself into societal leaders. Recently, we brought our academic programming to a new level with the institution of our STREAM Program, with the R signifying religion/reading. Utilizing all academic areas, students learn coding in an age appropriate manner as young as 1st grade and build drones and robots by the time they complete their formal education.

Our dedicated staff leads the way in other programs as well by building student knowledge and understanding beyond the grade level priority standards. We cultivate a Professional Learning Community which empowers our teachers to utilize varied resources available. By developing all foundational skills at a young age, our students receive the benefits of how to exercise critical thinking and problem solving.

We are very proud of our Catholic identity and academic excellence within our SJC community.
