Morikami Park Elementary School - Delray Beach, FL

Morikami Park is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school located in Delray Beach, Florida. We are a choice school that implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP). Families from Palm Beach County can apply to our school and our students are chosen through a lottery system. Our curricular framework focuses on the development of the whole child in a learning environment that encourages independence, academic challenges, inquiry, creativity, and responsible citizenship. We embrace a culture of inclusivity so our students feel safe to be themselves and to except others.

Students at Morikami Park receive daily rigorous instruction that is framed around structured and guided inquiry. Students are encouraged to question, research, and explore their wonderings in all subject areas in order to develop conceptual understanding across disciplines. Our students understand that each subject area is not isolated but rather connected and what is learned during reading can be transferred to writing, math, science and social studies. This transdisciplinary approach has been an integral part of our academic success.

Our school has a variety of strategies in place to support the diverse needs of our students. Teachers personalize instruction so that students receive the necessary enrichment or intervention, much of this occurs through small group instruction. We embrace a culture of collaboration. Several times a day our students work in cooperative groups, peer conference, present their knowledge, and even defend their thinking.
