Lead Academy students enjoying the wonder of reading.

At the heart of KIPP DC Lead Academy's success is a commitment to instructional responsiveness and genuine care of our students and classroom cultures. Our teachers set a clear vision for students to achieve and exceed grade-level mastery using a deliberate cycle of internalization, planning, delivery, questioning, feedback, and reflection to move student mastery forward. Using a multitude of benchmarks and collaboration with our students and families, we adapt content and processes to meet the needs of all students and their unique learning differences.

Our educators strive to set a joyful and authentic tone and build loving relationships so that each student and family feels welcomed, valued, respected, and known as individuals. We encourage student voice and promote independent thinking to empower students to take risks academically and socially, with the overall goal being their growth as a scholar and individual. We understand the vital role our families play in student success and work hand in hand with them toward ambitious academic and social-emotional learning goals that set students up to be college and career ready.

While KIPP DC Lead Academy employs multiple strategies to ensure student success, our core is a willingness to adapt to the learning differences of our students and affirming and celebrating their unique identities.
