Vista Verde K-8 School, part of a vibrant educational community in the Irvine Unified School District, provides students with the academic and technological skills to effectively meet the challenges of learners in the 21st Century. Vista Verde prizes the core values we opened with over 40 years ago, including significant parent involvement, a positive school climate, positive student behavior, solid student academic performance, and a strong sense of family and community. Our staff is committed to our powerful Professional Learning Community (PLC) and believes in a sustained, quality, evidence-based, assessment-informed approach to learning, which includes a strong Multi-Tiered System of Support Team, 1:1 instructional technology device access, flexible learning spaces designed to promote collaboration and communication, and a focus on mindfulness and well-being.
Ours school encourages students to have a voice and to empower their own learning. How? Well, we embrace mindfulness-based resilience practices school wide. Our students and teachers stop 2-3 times per day to briefly reconnect in a mindful way to help students manage stress and achieve emotional well-being throughout the day using evidence-based relaxation techniques. For us, learning is more than just academics. Learning is also about mental and physical well-being.
Our desire is to focus on the success of the whole child by fostering informed, productive, and capable students who are effective decision makers and problem solvers. Our goals are to empower students to take intellectual risks, to embrace innovation and creativity, all while developing social-emotional, critical thinking and communication skills in partnership with our community members.
