San Lorenzo Valley Elementary School's positive messaging impacts the community!

San Lorenzo Valley Elementary School is a comprehensive Transitional Kindergarten-5 school located in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains. At SLVE, we understand that children's social-emotional well-being is critical to a positive school climate as well as to individual students' learning success. When you arrive on campus, the first thing you'll notice are the murals that capture the spirit and beauty of our community, as well as provide our school with an inspirational message. Our murals promote a sense of identity, attachment, belonging, and openness, and they strengthen the community connection to SLVE.

Curriculum is focused on preparing students for college and career in all subject areas. Our teachers engage in regular collaboration around student achievement. Because we value educating all facets of our children's minds, our students have music, science and art added into the curriculum. SLVE students benefit greatly from our location. The school shares a large campus with the district's middle and senior high schools. This proximity allows for many cross-age tutoring opportunities. Students also gain hands-on learning in our environment using the redwood forest and our local watershed for nature walks, experiments, and lessons in conservation. SLVE staff and family surveys report positive feedback. Staff and parents report that they feel connected, appreciated and have seen a positive impact on our school climate and culture. SLVE is the place to be!
