Cleburne County Elementary School is the heart of a great community in Heflin, Alabama. The school serves five areas of the school district that is centrally located. Approximately 95 percent of our students are bused to school. Families, stakeholders, and students alike frequent the school for social, athletic, and academic events. Cleburne County Elementary School serves approximately 315 students. There is a passion and drive for educating future generations to be successful academically and behaviorally. The staff and students here at Cleburne County Elementary School work collaboratively to show growth in academic learning and building relationships that fosters growth in academics and life.

Our students receive exemplary academic instruction due to multiple effective resources being in place. The PLC (Professional Learning Community) team and collaboration among its members, grade level planning, and pedagogical book studies provide multiple professional development opportunities for our staff and promotes camaraderie among staff. Vertical alignment of standards, embedded best practices for instruction with researched-based curriculum, RTI (Response to Intervention), and MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) that encompasses the whole child drives our objectives to better meet student needs.

Cleburne County Elementary School celebrates the success and accomplishments of students through student-led conferences, open house activities, and parent/teacher meetings. Students take ownership of their learning targets and their data. Parents see the importance and worth of their child's learning and therefore get involved as an active participant in the education of their child. Stakeholders and parents alike are often seen on campus actively serving and contributing to the school.

Mission

Cleburne County Elementary School's mission is to prepare rural Prekindergarten-4 students to develop higher order thinking skills and leadership abilities in an environment of shared values of scholarship, equality, and unity by using a combination of the common core and direct instruction. Our vision is to create this Prekindergarten-4 school that is highly regarded for its academic excellence and for its contribution in actively serving and improving the community.
