The number one thing that makes Cedar Hills Elementary a great place to learn and achieve is that we work together to create a sense of belonging for all students, staff, and families. Our school's vision statement is, "You Belong Here!" At Cedar Hills, we meet each student where they are at with their academic and social-emotional learning. This takes a caring and dedicated team of educators and support staff to make this happen. Every staff member is willing to jump in and support where it is needed.
At times, we have challenging situations in regard to learning and/or behavior that we work tirelessly to find solutions for. While finding solutions to these challenges, we celebrate the growth students are making throughout their academic or behavioral learning journey. Over the past 3 years, we have watched students grow from having little or no learner identity to being a positive, caring member of their classroom who is now performing at the level of their peers or better. We were recognized for closing academic achievement gaps on our state report card which led to the National Blue Ribbon nomination. For academics, we have a structured universal screening process and targeted interventions that support students in literacy and math. We have focused on helping educators deliver these interventions with fidelity in order to help close academic achievement gaps. The balance of creating a sense of belonging and academic support has helped students thrive in a community that will help them lead a successful life.
