St. Francis of Assisi School (Triangle, VA)

St. Francis of Assisi School (Triangle, VA)

St. Francis of Assisi School (SFAS) in Triangle, VA is a fully-accredited Catholic school educating over 230 prekindergarten through 8th grade students. Our Christ-centered community emphasizes standards of conduct and integrity coupled with high academic standards for diverse and life-long learning. SFAS offers an all-day, experience-based prekindergarten program. Our k-8 curriculum provides opportunities for all learners to be successful. Academic growth is nurtured through recognizing individual differences and enriching the curriculum with a variety of projects designed to encourage students to challenge their minds, use creative problem-solving skills, and to view things in new and different ways. We value the diversity of our students and the importance of incorporating diverse topics in the curriculum. Parents from various ethnicities routinely visit classrooms to share their traditions and culture, such as Chinese New Year and Puerto Rican heritage. One of these talks inspired students to raise funds and supplies for the victims of Hurricane Maria.

Our curriculum supports our mission of community engagement. Our students routinely participate in opportunities to serve others in need, such as Francis House, a community-based service ministry established to help local residents in need. Our students also organize fundraisers to serve others in the global community, such as raising over $24,000 for our Sister Parish in Peru. We strive to model our Franciscan values of acceptance and appreciation of ethnic diversity through all things, and we are proud of our St. Francis of Assisi School culture of creating an intellectual, diverse, and caring community.
