North Rich Elementary is a small rural school located in northeast Utah. We serve 121 students from Special Education preschool through the fifth grade with one teacher per grade level and several classroom aides.
The strength of our school comes from a strong staff and family support system creating a safe and caring educational environment. During the past few years, we have encountered an increase in the number of students and families who are experiencing trauma within the home setting. The challenge of meeting the needs of this developing demographic has been met with a collaborative stakeholder effort to develop kindness and mindfulness initiatives, creating a culture of love, kindness, inclusiveness, and respect for all our students. These programs have given students, staff, and community members additional tools to implement restorative and trauma-informed practices.
We are also very proud of the technology we have available for our community. Funding from the Utah School Land Trust Program has allowed us to grow into a one-to-one elementary school. We utilize our technology to deliver content as well as a vehicle for students to deliver learning outcomes. Each classroom is equipped with touch screen technology for interactive delivery and for demonstrating understanding of standards.
Our kindness and caring culture combined with a tight knit community, educational technology, and outstanding students allows North Rich Elementary to be an exemplary school.
