Valley View North Elementary (VVNE) is located near the Rio Grande River, in the southernmost area of Texas, in the city of Pharr. The school was established in 1999 in the rural community of "Las Milpas" (Spanish for "cornfields") to serve students from the local community. The community includes many migrant families. VVNE is a Title I campus with an enrollment of 425 students in grades Pre-K 3 through fourth grade. Valley View North's commitment to providing a rigorous, student-centered learning environment has assisted each child in preparing for an ever-changing world. Each school year, a theme is selected to motivate students and teachers. The current theme, "Come Together, Work Together, Roar Together," encourages students and staff to become one unit and meet high expectations. All staff members work together to create a safe learning environment that promotes meaningful and positive relationships. Such relationships are cultivated through the dedicated teachers who have remained at the school throughout the years. They have helped VVNE earn numerous accolades.
Valley View North Elementary delivers a rigorous curriculum in the core subjects of math, science, language arts, and social studies. Teachers individualize instruction to optimize student-learning opportunities, based upon students' learning styles, interests, cultures, and needs. The dedication and commitment of teachers, staff, students, and parents has enabled VVNE to achieve an "A" rating for high performance in each category of student achievement, school progress, and closing the gaps, and earn every possible state distinction designation.
