NBRS Badge for Project Chrysalis Middle School

Project Chrysalis Middle School - Houston, TX

Houston ISD

Houston ISD's Project Chrysalis Middle School Students

Project Chrysalis Middle School was created in 1995 to support a group of 25 at-risk youth that would otherwise fall through the cracks in a traditional middle school setting. Since then, the campus has grown shy of 300 students and has earned every type of distinction at the local, state, and federal level. It is now one of the top middle schools in Texas and is sought out by families as their top school of choice for their middle school student. Though Project Chrysalis has an extensive student wait list and is unable to expand due to space availability, it continues to attract hundreds of student applicants each year. Parents are fully aware that if their child is accepted into the program, they will more than likely be accepted into any specialty or magnet high school of their choice in the school district.

The success of the campus is largely due to the rigorous project based curriculum that is available to students, the philosophy of data driven instruction, and the targeted support that each individual student receives. The teaching staff understands that failure is not an option and that they are the academic, emotional, and social support for every Project Chrysalis student.
