Dell Rapids Elementary School Third grade

Dell Rapids Elementary School Third grade

Dell Rapids Elementary is located in the small town of Dell Rapids in southeastern South Dakota. The elementary houses grades kindergarten through fourth grades, in addition to a kindergarten prep program. At Dell Rapids Elementary we honor our district's mission for each one of our students. Through academic rigor, learning outside of the classroom, and character development, our teachers and staff have a shared vision of developing skills necessary for our students to excel. This philosophy starts with our youngest learners. Since 2011, our elementary has implemented the kindergarten prep program. This all-day, everyday program is a blend of early childhood and kindergarten standards. The program provides a supportive environment for children to prepare for the social-emotional and academic rigor of kindergarten.

At Dell Rapids Elementary, we provide learning opportunities for our students both in and outside of the classroom. All students are offered art, music, and physical education on a regular basis. Extended library time offers all students a creative learning experience through Makerspace activities each week. We have garden beds on campus for teachers to use to integrate lessons on gardening, agriculture, and healthy eating. Drawing in from our community's well-known quartzite quarry, our school's most well-known initiative is our You Rock program. This character-building program teaches, encourages, and awards students who demonstrate positive character traits associated with Quarrier Pride. Our students take great enjoyment in their You Rock recognition. It has become a staple in our character education program.
