Dutch Ridge Elementary School is an outstanding learning environment because of the students and educators who comprise its populace. All of these individuals are not afraid of a challenge, support one another when faced with one, and have demonstrated their ability to harness critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity for their own growth and the overall success of our school community.
After hurdling some of our biggest obstacles, such as the redesign of our building schedule and the refocus on academic standards, teachers have continued to feel empowered to utilize our departmentalized model and the common planning time afforded to improve the learning experience. We skillfully use technology for instruction since it is a critical part of our identity as a district. Through our online learning platform, students and their families are able to be immersed and connected to our classrooms, and alternative modes of instruction (i.e. flipped learning). This focus on technology extends to our building-wide emphasis on the need for continued hands-on learning and STEAM education. We also hold firm in the belief that all learners have their own unique needs. Therefore, differentiated instruction and co-teaching are a central focus of our building as is the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support of our learners through our MTSS process. The students and educators of Dutch Ridge Elementary School truly personify the standard of excellence expected by the community served by the Beaver Area School District.
