Central Elementary School is committed to educating the whole child by providing a modern learning environment that includes a standards-based curriculum, flexible seating, and digital customized learning pathways for every student. Located fifteen miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Central Elementary employs a diverse selection of technology tools to enhance the academic growth of their students by analyzing the data and making on-the-spot changes to their learning continuum.

Together, we have created instructionally aligned interventions for our struggling learners, while creating more complex tasks and activities to meet the needs of our highest performing students. Through our makerspace activities and Computational Thinking and Computer Science (CTCS) curriculum, we are teaching students how to take a problem, break it into manageable parts, and then create solutions. This modern approach to learning has led to an increase in student engagement. Our teachers are leaders in the field.

Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is committed to enhancing the learning opportunities for our students. They volunteer for numerous school related functions and provide the funding for outside educational experiences. The principal and faculty are committed to creating a safe learning environment by implementing the Be Brave (Be Safe, Respectful, Accountable, Valued, and Empathetic) expectations of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This clear and consistent framework teaches students about appropriate behavior and develops needed social and emotional skills to be successful in school and life. Preparing our students for the future and creating a positive learning environment where all learners are successful is what Central Elementary does best!
