Innovation in Action

The New Rockford-Sheyenne Elementary School staff recognizes the importance of providing students personalized learning options to demonstrate mastery of skills and fully engage them in their learning. Our achievement scores and student aptitudes have shown significant growth. We are extremely proud of the accomplishments our school community has reached. The confidence, engagement, and overall joy of teaching and learning has a renewed positivity with staff and students alike. We are excited about what the future holds.

At New Rockford-Sheyenne Elementary, we believe that the critical practice that has been the most instrumental in contributing to the school's success is teamwork and a fail forward attitude. We have confidence in each other as a staff to recognize, reflect, and know when changes in our academic programming are necessary. Our district reading scores were not demonstrating anticipated growth. We recognized it was time for action. Our instructional programming focus shifted to small group instruction, integrated technology, and more one-to-one learning with the teacher. As this practice unfolded, teachers utilized this teaching and learning structure in multiple content areas, allowing them to more fully understand their community of learners.

We are striving to foster a sense of staff and student empowerment through personalized learning opportunities, allowing all to have a voice and choice in their educational journey. We foster engaging experiences with students to seek healthy, positive relationships with their peers, family, and community. As we look forward to the future, we are confident that our staff and community of learners will continue on a road of ongoing success.
