Community, Rigor, and High Expectations Produce Well-Rounded Graduates

Community, Rigor, and High Expectations Produce Well-Rounded Graduates

Hancock Public School is a small, rural PreK through 12th grade school located in west central Minnesota. Hancock Public School utilizes community, rigor, and high expectations to produce well-rounded graduates.

The healthy development of children requires a balance to mold well-rounded adults. Like pebbles in a stream, each interaction with a child shapes the future. The essential role of the school culture created by the Hancock staff, administration, and community is to maintain consistent high expectations to sculpt high performing students.

These expectations have to be held for each individual's growth in mind, body, and spirit. To concentrate on only the intellectual and physical development of children does not allow for the development of emotional maturity. High expectations for ethical behavior of students provides the catalyst for superior achievement.

The success of this holistic approach is documented by the superior scores of Hancock students on standardized tests, their exceptional graduation rates, and their national co-curricular achievements. The vision statement of Hancock School District shareholders is focused on holding high expectations. School administration has guided the staff and students to make this vision a reality. Recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School affirms the hard work of students, faculty, and administration immersed within this community culture, and validates the success of the educational practices used by Hancock Public School.
