The Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy (S.A.S.A.) is a public magnet school for grades 6-12, and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. S.A.S.A. has become one of the outstanding schools within Saginaw Public Schools and Michigan. US News and World Report has listed S.A.S.A. as one of the top schools and as a Silver Medalist for multiple years.
As principal Rachel Reid says, "Success of our program comes from differentiated instruction and the opportunity for acceleration and enrichment for students. We keep students' individual needs at the heart of everyday instruction."
S.A.S.A. has many outstanding characteristics that separate us from other schools. One defining trait of our programming is the concentration component. Concentrations are student selected classes, lasting an extended period of time, covering content broadly and deeply. The academic and performing arts concentrations offered are: Math/Science, Global Studies, English Language Arts, 2D Art, 3D Art, Dance, Theatre, and Voice/Keyboard. S.A.S.A. has developed the gifted and talented culture of excellence over the past thirty-five years in heart of Saginaw. Student success is a result of the project-based, career focused, adjudication, and networking opportunities. We ensure that student success is a direct result of quality instruction that takes place in the classroom and that academics is supported by a strong, learning community with small class sizes. Ensuring that all of our students are exposed to the arts, foreign language and exceptional experiences throughout the year is a contributing factor to our success.
