Active and inquisitive students acquire new knowledge daily at UHS.

Urbana High School proudly displays a tradition of academic excellence that reflects our commitment to developing the character and resilience of our student body as an integral component of strong scholarly achievement. Through our commitment to academic honor and with an obligation to ensuring civil discourse, we challenge our students to explore, examine, and reflect upon concepts, ideas, and thoughts relevant in our local and global communities. We respect and celebrate our large and diverse student population and know we become stronger through that increasing diversity. Through purposeful and pertinent lessons in each academic discipline, we enable our students to understand past and present societies as they purposefully prepare for the future.

Over three-fourths of our students participate in extra-curricular activities, including a thriving visual and performing arts program and a highly-competitive athletic program. Through these activities, advisors, directors, and coaches support our commitment to sportsmanship, respect, and pride. In addition, over half of our students participate in a series of student-led community service events designed to increase our understanding of the needs of others and to develop leadership skills necessary to effect change in our world.

We are committed to integrity in our words and actions; with that, we make good on our promise to deliver a high quality and rigorous high school experience that challenges our students to grow and to achieve at their highest levels. At Urbana, we pride ourselves as a part of the role public education plays in positively shaping our world.
