A fourth grader reading to kindergartners.

At Lakewood our goal is to provide children with a personalized learning journey that focuses on the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to excel as 21st century learners. Lakewood educators continually question, research, and study how children learn. We believe learning should be a seamless flow of information and experiences. Engaged learners can be found researching animals and creating habitats, debating what pioneers should put in their covered wagons as they travel west, developing a business plan to market and sell a product, and writing and producing a curriculum-based musical performance. Providing a safe and welcoming environment is critical to our academic achievement and the well-being of each student.

The Lakewood staff collaborates each week. We have found that when people come together with passion and dedication, the result is powerful. Parent involvement also contributes to the success of our school. Our parents believe in the Lakewood philosophy and together we strive to maintain a personalized, family- centered, nurturing neighborhood elementary school. Students leave Lakewood confident in their ability to embark on a path of their own. As we begin our twentieth year at Lakewood, we celebrate our students' achievements and embrace what lies ahead. The success of Lakewood comes from the sum of its parts...we are better together.
