Alphonsus Academy & Center For The Arts - Chicago, IL

AACA

AACA's arts-integrated curriculum enhances our strong academic and spiritual community.

Alphonsus Academy and Center for the Arts is an arts-integrated Catholic PK through 8th grade school on the Northside of Chicago. Simply stated, we develop learners. Everything we do supports and enriches learning. Beginning in preschool, students engage with a rigorous, arts-integrated curriculum. Our teachers collaborate with artists-in-residence as well as community resources to create curriculum that is both diverse and individualized. Our learning environment is made stronger by consistent efforts to differentiate. Teachers participate in weekly professional development to make this goal a reality.

We believe that every student is capable of excellence and acknowledge development of the whole child. Our faculty-teachers, specialists, and counselors alike-utilize Responsive Classroom to foster both academic and socio-emotional learning. Our graduates are ready to accept the challenges of the strongest high schools in the city.

AACA is more than a school - it's a family. Faculty and families work together to build community both inside and outside of the school day. Parent commitment is evident through volunteerism in the classroom, athletics, and arts events. Throughout the school year, AACA families showcase learning at community-wide events like the Arts Together celebration and engage in service like commitments to Blessings in a Backpack and the Lakeview Pantry.

A common mantra among families is "Once a Rocket, always a Rocket." It serves as a sign of support and a reminder of the academic and spiritual growth and confidence AACA fosters in our students to take into the world today.
