Daves Creek Elementary is located in the suburb of Cumming, GA located north of Atlanta and has been educating students K-5 since its founding in 1996.
Daves Creek's mission focuses on developing success through students thinking, exploring, and making real-world connections. Students have opportunities to learn in a positive environment where their academic and social-emotional achievements are acknowledged and celebrated. Teachers provide rigorous instruction integrating STEM, technology, and inquiry-based learning. Students are encouraged to identify problems and collaboratively design solutions. Daves Creek is in the process of pursuing STEM certification through the state of Georgia.
Students and staff are provided with a technology-rich environment, including 3D printers, augmented/virtual reality laptops, tablets, and interactive panels. In 2011, Forsyth County Schools launched a "bring your own technology" program encouraging students to bring their personal devices to empower their learning at school. Students participate in a Science Lab and Passions and Interests class. Daves Creek also sponsors award-winning math, robotics, and Science Olympiad competition teams.
Rigorous academics and social-emotional learning are in balance at Daves Creek. Educating the whole child is essential to the success of every student. Teachers implement our social-emotional program, the Voyage, through cross-content curriculum. Specific character traits are targeted each month, and students exhibiting those behaviors are celebrated. Focusing on academics and the whole child ensures that the student will be prepared for future success both as a student and a thriving adult.
