Ethel Koger Beckham K-8 Center is a Title I school located in West Miami-Dade, presently serving students in Pre-Kindergarten through seventh grade. The school was founded in 1996 as an elementary school and converted to a K-8 Center in the fall of 2018. We are committed to the vision of providing each child the opportunity to grow into their full potential. Efforts to keep the school mission alive are evident in the manner in which all stakeholders collaborate to provide opportunities for students to not only excel academically but socially and emotionally. The whole child is "nurtured" through a targeted focus on developing the following character traits in our students: trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, caring, fairness, and citizenship.
Ethel Koger Beckham K-8 Center fosters high academic achievement through authentic learning, interdisciplinary connections, collaborative conversations and fidelity to instructional strategies that promote critical thinking. Scientific investigations are conducted so students can engage in exploration, explanation, evaluation, and extension of learning. Technology integration provides students with differentiated instruction that meets individual learning goals. The learning environment at Beckham is intellectually challenging yet safe and structured. This allows students to feel comfortable taking risks that maximize learning. Providing students with opportunities to participate in school sponsored extracurricular activities has proven to increase student achievement and motivation. As a Cambridge school, we encourage students to become confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged learners. The expertise, collaboration, and professionalism shared among the leadership and faculty are key in the continuous academic achievement of all students.
