At Oak Hills Elementary School, we support our students by rooting decisions in our founding motto, Excellence in Heart and Mind. Each year, our school strives to improve our practices to meet the needs of all students.

As our district's capstone school, approximately 43% of our student body is inter-district and open enrollment transfer students. We have a unique student population, with a variety of backgrounds and needs. While our diversity can present challenges, it also provides a dynamic culture. Our staff actively collaborates to create multiple entry points to learning and mastery.

The implementation of RTI2, in conjunction with PBIS, helps us ensure that all students can thrive academically. One key component is our foundational skills cycle. Teachers collaborate to design assessments of mastery of the prior year's standards. Students who do not show mastery receive intervention at the beginning of the school year, to prepare them for success with their upcoming learning.

To promote college and career readiness, we are also proud of our multifaceted approach to STEM integration. Our parent-facilitated Science Booster program provides students with in-class experiments and expert-led assemblies. This includes demonstrations by engineers from NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab. Students also have opportunities for after school science enrichment.

This year, our professional development will focus on differentiation within our learning tiers. Our goal is that we meet the needs of ALL of our leaders and promote equity in our teaching, which in turn will meet the needs of ALL of our learners at Oak Hills.
