Joe A. Gonsalves Elementary School is dedicated to providing the best educational experience possible for our students. This is done through a team effort where all stakeholders- staff, parents and families, students, and community members- work collaboratively to create an environment conducive to learning and student achievement. It is this combination of high quality teaching in the classroom, the commitment of our families to promote and support learning, and desire of our students to do their very best that makes Gonsalves a special place to be.

Through a rigorous standards-based curriculum, use of effective instructional strategies, grade-level collaboration, data analysis and strategic interventions, we know our students will achieve and be successful academically. With our implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), we create positive behavioral and academic environments. Gonsalves Grizzlies demonstrate STAR behavior in all parts of our school when they Stay Safe, Take Responsibility, Act Respectfully, and are Ready to Learn. We use a positive acknowledgement system to recognize appropriate behavior, and effective consequences and supports for students needing behavior interventions. Our school's Technology Integration Program (TIP) prepare our students to be leaders in a 21st Century world. We are successful due to teachers' readiness to learn and incorporate technology to enhance instruction. Through collaboration among the grade levels and district experts, teams develop technology-driven lessons that create opportunities to challenge students by allowing them to examine topics with more depth and complexity. We are proud of these efforts that allow our students to thrive and succeed!
