Life at Mission Early College High School

Life at Mission Early College High School

Mission Early College High School, located in El Paso, Texas, is a stand-alone early college located on the El Paso Community College (EPCC) Mission del Paso Campus. The school opened its doors in the fall of 2006 and takes pride in being the first campus in the El Paso region to be designated as an early college campus. The campus serves close to 500 students in the Socorro Independent School District.

The primary goal is for Mission students to graduate with an associate's degree before they graduate from high school. Over 60% of the students receive their associate's degree before the beginning of their senior year. Many of these students will continue to take coursework at the University of Texas El Paso in their last year of high school.

Student success is directly attributable to the school climate. Faculty and staff believe in nurturing students, in providing a safe and extensive learning environment, and in offering a well-rounded high school experience. The campus is a home-away-from-home, with more than 20 clubs and organizations, intramural sports, and traditional high school activities such as prom and homecoming, theatre, music, and dance opportunities. Students give back to the community through tutoring and other community service. They compete and are successful at the local, state, and national levels in everything from science fair to business and health science competitions.

Students are held to rigorous, high standards. Like the immortal Phoenix rising from the ashes, student achievement is evident in the high performance level and the many successes our students experience.
