Located approximately two miles from the U.S.-Mexico border and established in 1927, Valley View Elementary served as the District's first and only school for many years. Times have changed, and the District has grown. It now is one of five elementary schools and proudly serves students from grade EE through fourth grade. It serves approximately 457 students, of which 99.34% are Hispanic, 84.46% are English Language Learners (ELLs), and 88.84% are economically disadvantaged.

Valley View Elementary strives to accomplish its mission by providing a system of quality education, based on appropriate curriculum, effective instruction, community and family support. The school's extensive curriculum is closely aligned with the core areas to meet the needs of all student populations, including ELLs and special education students. It follows the guidelines and essential knowledge and skills required by the Texas Education Agency.

Technology is implemented as part of the curriculum from PK through fourth grade. Consequently, all students and teachers enjoy access to computers and other emerging technology. Valley View Elementary prides itself on offering a challenging curriculum which promotes student success. It is a place where opportunities for improvement are observed, acknowledged, and strengthened. It is a place that encourages teamwork, cares about students and staff, and continuously provides incentives to promote student achievement. Teachers enjoy the liberty to implement different teaching strategies and techniques to address students' needs and enhance student learning. The staff strives to uphold its motto "It’s a Gr-r-reat Place to Learn!"
