St. John Paul II Catholic School (StJPII) is the largest independent private Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston. Founded by laity, the school opened in 1988 with 56 students and now serves over 700 studnets pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. StJPII is dually accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Bishops of Education Department and AdvancEd.
Belongingness, connectedness, community, and family are just a few words that students, staff, alumni, and parents use to describe the heart and soul of StJPII. This resounding theme unites the school and creates a strong foundation for each individual student. For these reasons, StJPII continues to focus on the social-emotional development of students in partnership with parents as a way to help children grow, learn, flourish, and achieve.
St. John Paul II Catholic School prepares all students spiritually and academically to succeed in life and to do God’s will. Teachers, staff, and administrators provide a quality learning environment where students are encouraged to become self-directed learners and to discover their personal gifts. Classrooms have flexible learning spaces to enhance students' individual learning experiences along with integration of technology through ipads, interactive whiteboards, chrome book carts, and a one-to-one program in middle school. As reflective practitioners, teachers and administrators work collaboratively to plan for the diverse needs for all students. StJPII offers a robust fine arts program, competitive athletics, study skills, reading intervention, and enrichment for exceptional learners including robotics, math league, project-based learning, and design thinking in order to ensure student growth and success at StJPII and beyond.
