AP Chemistry Students helping 5th graders with an experiment
Merrol Hyde Magnet School is a public, K-12 choice school in Hendersonville, TN, about 10 miles north of Nashville. We are also a Paideia school where our rigorous college preparatory curriculum is enriched by student, school-wide, and community seminars and coached projects.
Our school motto, "Committed to Excellence," drives everything we do - academics, athletics, fine arts, and community service. Our ultimate goal is to create an authentic learning environment where the whole child - mind, body, and spirit - can become an independent, life-long learner that embraces his or her place within our community. Our annual accountability results demonstrate our commitment to academic excellence, with accolades from U.S. News and World Report and prior Blue Ribbon recognition.
In our Paideia seminars, students as young as kindergarten learn and practice literacy skills where the end result is an articulate student who can think critically and engage in civil discourse. Elementary students are exposed to foreign languages in every grade, supplementing a challenging text-based curriculum. Middle school students continue on an accelerated track earning high school credits in foreign language and math. High school students embark on an ambitious college-prep track that includes every student taking at least one AP class and an enhanced option course for college credit. With 100% graduation rate, 100% college acceptance, close to 90% AP passage rate and Tennessee's highest composite ACT score, our students are well rounded and prepared for college and careers.
