Since 1977, Scales Elementary has distinguished itself by meeting individual student needs in innovative ways. Our history of academic success includes a rigorous curriculum and a variety of effective opportunities that support the emotional, physical, and social needs of all students. Our outstanding faculty and staff work hard to implement best practices as they plan, differentiate, and deliver valuable lessons. With the support of our school district and community which value a strong, cohesive relationship, our students develop into confident, well-rounded adults who look back on their elementary school experience as a foundational building block for life.
Some noteworthy practices enrich our students' educational experience. Daily 90-minute reading and math blocks provide educational opportunities for students such as whole-group direct instruction, differentiated small groups, and independent practice. Our unique approach to Response to Intervention (RtI) incorporates consistent daily intervention and instruction for all students in either reading or math. Groups, based on a variety of assessments, support students who need additional assistance in achieving grade level standards as well as those students who need an increased challenge as they grow and advance. Additionally, our commitment to enhancing instruction with current technology creates a culture of engagement in each day’s lessons.
For over 40 years, Scales has proudly cultivated an environment that fosters growth, creativity, and academic achievement. Our entire school community is grateful to be recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School.
