The bustling neighborhood of Queen Village boasts one of the highest achieving K-8 schools in the city of Philadelphia, William M. Meredith. William M. Meredith School is a home away from home for the community it serves. At Meredith, we have managed to create a tight-knit community that embraces differences and supports the learning and growth of all who walk through the doors of our school. Mindfulness and social emotional learning have become a hallmark of our school's mission and vision. We pride ourselves on teaching our students about caring for themselves, each other, and the community, which has encouraged them to make good choices and spread kindness. Our school's approach to learning is student-centered, innovative, and engaging.
One of our greatest challenges is meeting the needs of all learners. We are able to do so through a comprehensive workshop model in both literacy and math. This method of instruction allows us the opportunity to work with small groups, providing challenge and attention to all students based on their individual needs. We value families as partners in this work and engage with them through weekly communication and regular community events. Parents are an integral part of the educational landscape at Meredith. Parents serve as volunteers who provide a combination of academic support, engage in facilitated recess, and organize fundraisers to support the academic and extracurricular programming at our school.
