Ridgway Area High School's tradition of academic excellence is a testament to our rural community's dedication to the importance of education. Like many small communities, the high school serves as the central hub of Pennsylvania community. We are proud of the productive, positive school climate here that fosters concern for each individual to reach their full potential. Our mission remains fixed on quality instruction within each classroom.

Ridgway Area High School's recipe for success mirrors the statement of "Achievement Through Learning." The application of lesson content, or emphasis on the relevancy of the subject matter to real world scenarios, is stressed in instructional design. Our high school operates four instruction teaching blocks per day. This block schedule allows for 78-minute class periods that promote a high level of student engagement and depth of content. Student engagement strategies are an annual point of emphasis, rather than the end result of state testing.

We consider our relationship with our school families and community stakeholders to be vital to the educational mission of Ridgway Area High School. We strongly value the idea that those students who are involved in teams, groups, and community service initiatives are those who grow habits of engagement that leads to productive citizenship. We require all graduating seniors to have completed 50 hours of community service in local non-profit organizations in the Ridgway community. We hope to instill in all students a sense of service above self.
