Mater Dei Catholic School (MDCS) was founded in July 2012 pursuant to a merger of three legacy schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and was established under the patronage of Mater Dei. Through a welcoming spirit and the honoring of valued traditions, MDCS created a warm and nurturing community. Recognizing the uniqueness of each child, MDCS educates students to be innovative learners and Catholic leaders.
MDCS develops the values of faith, excellence, service, and community. Partnering with parents, strong faith formation is modeled through prayer, worship, education, and service. Commitment to academic excellence challenges students to develop their potential through innovative programs which include 1:1 iPad initiative, STREAM and Science Labs, Honors English and Mathematics, Accommodation, and Academic Resource Programs. By mastering the spiraling levels of the curriculum, students become critical readers, creative writers, successful communicators, and independent thinkers.
Students participate in service that reflects the Catholic social justice teachings where the love of neighbor has global dimensions and the dignity of every person is celebrated. The hallmark of Community reflects the genuine respect and care for one another evidenced by the partnership of home and school. Empowered by the commitment to serve the needs of the community, MDCS expanded its ministry by opening the Mater Dei Childcare Center in the fall of 2017 for infants to 36 months. The Mater Dei community is excited to welcome new members and to witness their impact on the world. Mater Dei Catholic School recognizes that knowledge enlightened by faith, excellence, service, and community is the heart of Catholic education.
