Relationships Matter at Rousseau Elementary School
Maude Rousseau Elementary School opened its doors in 1964 and is one of 39 elementary schools in the Lincoln Public Schools District. Our student population has become more culturally diverse over the past seven years which brings to our school a rich mix of backgrounds and experiences.
Â
The Rousseau teachers and staff share a strong mission of high academic achievement for all students. The foundation for our academic success at Rousseau Elementary is based on our belief that all students can achieve and learn. To the Rousseau staff, "all" means "all". We use a laser-sharp focus to drill down as we look at the individual needs of students.
Â
Creating a warm and welcoming school environment is of utmost importance to our staff. Building relationships has been a continuing focus at Rousseau, with "Relationships Matter" being the theme this past year. On a daily basis, staff can be observed displaying kind and caring gestures supporting the belief that "A child does not care how much a teacher knows until they know how much they care".  – Theodore Roosevelt.Â
Reggie, a golden retriever, is the school's Edu-Pup. Reggie greets students in the morning, listens to students read, calms students who may be struggling, and helps students learn social skills/develop responsibility.
Â
In collaboration with families, our PTOÂ and our community partners, we are able to provide various activities (Student Serve, Red Ribbon Week, Guest speakers/Authors, Field trips) that enhance our students' education and support our mission statement.
