Jeffrey Elementary, located in Osceola Nebraska, provides a great foundation to the start of a student's education. The school is located in rural Nebraska and helps educate diverse population of students. The school serves students from preschool through the 5th grade.

There are several areas that contribute to the schools succes First of all, on a year to year basis there is little turn over and the staff continually collaborates on strategies to better educate themselves and their students. Additionally, Jeffrey Elementary has a strong early childhood program located in the building. This allows staff to be able to identify issues early and try to address them before students enter kindergarten. Once in kindergarten the staff takes great pride in how it runs our MTSS or Multi-tiered System of Supports. They use MTSS to help identify students who are struggling in all areas especially reading. The staff works hard, using different intervention programs that are suited for each individual student's needs. At the beginning of the school year each student takes a fluency test to help determine placement for reading. Using this data, along with MAPs scores, the MTSS team and teachers, place students into appropriate groups and decides who will need extra support from MTSS. Every two weeks, the students who are receiving these supports, are retested to see if they are making growth or if they can be removed from the program.

In connection with creating an environment rich with reading, Jeffrey Elementary works very hard to promote positive behavior with its Bulldog P.R.I.D. Each letter represents a specific area that is continually monitored by every staff member in the building. If a student is caught doing something good their name is put in a drawing for a chance to win a t-shirt and water bottle with the logo of Bulldog P.R.I.D.E on it. This has helped students become more independent and makes them think about what kind of decision they are making.

Because of the above mentioned reasons it becomes clear why Jeffrey Elementary enjoys the success that it des. The teachers care very much for every student. The small town nature of the elementary school helps students feel very safe and lets them know they come first when it comes to education.
