Kitty Hawk Elementary School - By Reaching High, We Fly!

Kitty Hawk Elementary, home of the Falcons, is located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and serves a rural community that is supportive, generous, and benefits greatly from the local tourism industry. With more than 75 years of rich history, Kitty Hawk Elementary provides a quality education for all students.

Our focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of the whole child plays out in everything we do. Our state recognition as a model school for Positive Behavior and Intervention Support validates our safe, supportive, and kind environment where teachers and staff are committed to excellent teaching and learning. We believe that relationships are important and our staff works proactively to build an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect among all stakeholders to promote learning. Our ten year commitment to the Multi-tier System of Support framework provides relevant, rigorous, and differentiated curriculum and instruction in a positive learning environment. With such a strong commitment to quality teaching and learning, we ensure all students become innovative and creative problem solvers who are foundationally equipped with the skills and knowledge for future success.

With a supportive community, committed staff, and robust, research-based programming, our students consistently exceed growth goals on standardized measures of reading, mathematics, and science. Our school's motto is “By reaching high, we fly.” We have high expectations for students, teachers, and parents as we continuously assess progress toward our school goals, reaching higher and flying further, each and every day.
