NBRS Badge for Richland Elementary School

Richland Elementary School - Essex, MO

Richland R-1 Elemtary School

Richland R-1 Elemtary School

Richland R-1 Elementary's staff is comprised of proud, outside the box, forward thinking, persistent over comers. Richland's staff is dedicated to the mission of "All kids can learn" and the motto "Let's not blame the kids but find a better way to help kids succeed."

The first step Richland Elementary staff made to help students succeed was the collaboration of a ever growing and changing assessment vocabulary that is created by the staff and used school wide. Our staff learned that when a student is thrown by a vocabulary word than many times the students knows how to do the work but will just guess due to not knowing the meaning of a word. For example, all teachers teach addition and students will get addition problems wrong when the word sum is used instead of addition, only because the student's vocabulary did not encompass the word sum.

Richland R-1 Elementary is a One to One School where technology is not just used but has transformed the pedagogy and rigor of each classroom. Strong STEM immersion which includes coding, robotics and maker spaces areas to further enhance each student's education. This transformational educational process has help strengthen the positive relationship and trust between, school board, staff, students and community. But the greatest accomplishment is the growth of every student toward the ultimate goal of being successful learners. In our opinion the world's future is bright.
